What does it take to rise to the top?

This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while, and was just watching the music video of “Make it rain- Fat Joe and Lil Wayne” and got inspired to write about this topic.

What is it about someone like Fat Joe that he is worshipped by so many people, that he is a multimillionaire, appearing in music videos, producing awesome songs and being known throughout the world…

Everyone starts off as a baby, all equal, some in even a less well-off physical condition than others. Yet some people go off to become CEO’s of multinational corporations, presidents of countries, famous actors, rockstars, inventors of the most innovative technology in the world, and the majority of the people settle for an average life without ever achieving those ranks.

These people must have something that the rest of society chooses to elect them above the rest. Rockstars become rockstars because they have some sort of appeal and talent that people cannot create themselves and therefore idolise. Personally I have big big dreams, and I do not want them to stay just that…dreams. I want to realise them, but I don’t find it so easy. I am by large not exceptional, but I would say I am good at many things and smart enough to excel in a lot, the only question is what do I choose? :)

The lucky few who have a mentor to learn from are the best examples to take. If you have something you have been doing, or working at to get better, but have not been able to get much results, go out and find yourself a mentor. Find someone who is already at the top, who is willing to teach you or let you walk with them. They have gone through the many many years of struggling and learning, and have overcome all the obstacles already, so seeing them in action can do wonders for you.

The thing about this society is that we only see the perfect and the good. When we see a movie or rockstar, playing the lead role in some super action packed fantastic movie, we think that they are awesome and lucky and have super talent. What we do not see is how many years they have been auditioning, taking acting classes, playing tiny roles and working their way to the top. When we see multimillionaire investors, we do not see the years (twenty, forty, even 60 years) of losing, going bankrupt, struggling etc etc. I personally know of traders who are now super wealthy, but have gone broke three times in their lifetime. All that experience is worth gold, and it shows that nothing goes easy.

I only talk about things that I know of and have experience in , so take modeling, when you see that guy or girl in an Armani ad, looking super gorgeous, and hear they got flown to a set in some exotic island for the shoot and get paid 50k usd per day, what you do not know or see is how many failed castings they have gone to before that, how many jobs and shoots they have done for $50 a day.

Of course being in the right place at the right time can help you a lot, but the steps to getting to the top are as follows:

1) Decide what it is that you want to focus on and succeed in

2)Write a list of all the successful people in that field, and make a study about them, and how they got to where they are.

3) Find yourself a mentor, either online, or in that field, maybe you can offer to work for them for free to gain experience if they want to teach you.

4) Don’t give up, be prepared to fail over and over and over again. Just take the midset that every time you fail is one time closer to succeeding!

Oh, I included the music video of “Make it rain”…it’s an awesome song:). For the largest network of MP3 downloads and Movie downloads…Click Here

Good luck:)
