The Power of Raw Food |
Raw food is simply food that is eaten the way it is found in nature.
No alterations or modifications, no additives and also little or no heating.
Heat destroys many of the valuable and essential vitamins, minerals and enzymes that our body would love to absorb, however certain vegetables like your broccoli and cauliflower are much more enjoyable after a light steam .
The following is an extract from a book ‘Goldot’ by Lewis E. Cook, comparing the effects in rats of a raw food diet to the average American diet.
“A study was done on a group of rats were fed a diet of raw vegetables, fruits, nuts and whole grains from birth.
They grew into completely healthy adult rats and never suffered from any disease. They were never ill. They grew rapidly, but never became fat, mated with enthusiasm and had healthy offspring. They were always affectionate,playful and lived in perfect harmony with each other. Upon reaching an old age, equivalent to 80 years in humans, these rats were put to death and autopsied. At that age their organs, glands, tissues and all body processes appeared to be in perfect condition without any signs of aging or deterioration.
A companion group of rats were fed a diet comparable to that of the average American and included white bread, cooked foods, meats, milk, salt, soft drinks, candies, cakes, vitamins and other supplements, medicines for their ailments, etc. During their lifetime, these rats became fat and from the earliest age, contracted most of the diseases of modern American society including colds, fever, pneumonia, poor vision, cataracts, heart disease, arthritis, cancer, and many more.
The same principles apply to human life as there is only one Truth! Thus, it may be concluded that sick people may be restored to health simply by choosing the proper diet and observing the other rules of health. There is no mystery. There is no external force that will help , all healing is accomplished within the body, by the body, in accordance with the laws of organic life and health.”
“When we look at our anatomy in terms of signs of our ability to catch and kill animals without the use of weapons or tools, we see that we do not have the natural tools, such as claws and sharp teeth, for killing the animals humans now commonly eat. Our anatomy seems to not be designed for such activities. While animals in nature, which actively kill animals for food, have sharp teeth, hinged jaws, acidic saliva, very strong stomach acid, and short intestines, humans have none of these. Our teeth are designed for grinding, our jaw is hinged and does not lock like those of animals which kill and eat animals in nature, we have alkaline saliva, very weak stomach acid compared to carnivorous animals, and we have very long intestines. Prior to our discovering weapons and tools, if we consumed any animals at all, they likely would have been small, slow, or injured (or dead) animals, and only on rare occasion as long as we had a supply of plant-based foods available. When there is food natural for humans available, then there is no need to look “outside” our natural diet.”

“9. It is environmentally sound. With humanity on a diet of raw foods, the food industry would close up shops and take up organic gardening. This would save us enormous amounts of natural resources used to produce power for these industries. Nuclear power would be clearly unnecessary. And think of how many trees and oil reserves could be saved without the need for the paper and plastics used in packaging our processed foods. There would also be less carbon dioxide released in to the atmosphere when all the cooking stopped and more oxygen produced from all the new orchards and gardens, thus helping to reverse the Greenhouse Effect.”
