Success comes gradually

Me, like many people sometimes want instant success or fame.
How nice would it be to have loads of money, be a rock-star or movie legend, have an agency scout you and pay you to star in super commercials and appear in magazines.

For most of us dreams will stay dreams and never materialise.

Yes, some lucky few people in this world will get all that without the fight and struggle, but many hugely successful people have hard to work really hard and long to get to where they are.

You see, many of us attempt to reach our dreams, but give up as soon as we hit a little or moderate resistance…just because it’s so much easier to take the easy way.

Would you rather fail, never reach your dreams and be reasonably happy or do you want to fight with everything you have, defeat all odds and come out on top, achieving the success you have always dreamed of?

I prefer the latter.
Nothing comes easy and everything takes much practice.
Sometimes when things seem hopeless we are *so* close to achieving our goals.
I have not read it fully yet, but there is a book by marketing guru and founder of Squidoo,Seth Godin ,called “The dip”.

It is exactly about what I just said, knowing when to not give up, when you are in the dip before the rise to success. It costs $10 from Amazon and I REALLY suggest you get a copy! (you can buy it from the image above.)

Sometimes things get a bit to much and seem hopeless, and that is when we need to step out for some air and get some motivation. Whether it be a quote by someone we admire, a movie, a book, an image or just some advice from a good friend, go out and get it.

I started with internet marketing about 6 months ago, and when I saw and heard the stories of people making over $1000 a day from online I instantly had big dreams like that and wanted it to happen.
I had no clue on how to do any internet marketing at all, so of course everything went slower than I wanted.

I am still learning day by day, and working on it when I can, constantly improving and trying things out.

It took 3 months to make my first sale (which I never thought I would see, I was actually pretty close to giving up, because I had spent days and weeks working at it with no result).
That first sale motivated me, and I kept going. Slowly and every now and then I would get another sale. Every time I saw one it made my day and gave me the biggest smile.

They were pretty tiny sales, 13-26$, but nevertheless, it was money I made from online!
The more I hear people claim they are making big money online, the more I am starting to believe it, but it takes much practice and constant work.
Maybe once you have the knowledge and experience you can start from scratch and make big money quickly, but you need that base first.

Last week was pretty decent for me, I made $74.
Then…yesterday, all of a sudden when I logged onto my Clickbank account, I saw $145 for the day!
I thought it was some kind of mistake.
But NO, it was right, I checked the stats, and it was a new product I was promoting.
Yesterday was my single biggest sale day and I am sooo happy:) hehe.

It has given a turbo boost to my motivation to work even harder and internet marketing, because I KNOW that it’s possible. Imagine making $145 every single day of the month. That is all I need to live off, I can carry on working on my things in peace of mind knowing that I have enough to live off, and pursue the things I really want to in life, spiritually, martial arts, learning and traveling.

I hope that this post can serve as motivation for someone else out there, who is about to give up on something that they are truly good at, and which can set them free financially.

NEVER GIVE UP :)

In case you want even more motivation, watch the movie by Will Smith, The Pursuit of Happiness.
It shows how he goes though 6 months of close the inhumanity, having to live off almost nothing with his son, to make sure he lands the job which eventually makes him a multi-millionaire. You can also see how most people are, because in the movie, the mother of his child just gives up and leaves when things seem hopeless.

Keep your head high and your dukes up:)

  1. Hey Dirk, Wonderful and inspirational post you have here. How true it is when we are looking to the internet to make money we always see the hype up versions. There’s the guys ‘n’ gals that you hear make $30,000. a month or “I make $500. a day”. You read these captions and then you think man I haven’t made that much money and I’m working my buns off here. Then you sit back and realize you just got started. I know when I started I was not an internet junkie or a blogging fanatic I was a “blogging virgin” (you like that one lol) but I threw myself into it and read everything I could get my hands on and asked lots of questions. I remember when I received my first big payment from the internet, at that moment I knew that this is what I wanted and that it was possible to make money on the internet. You do need to be motivated to succeed in this business and when you get your first, second, and third check… that can give you that extra motivation that you need. I agree with you don’t give up.
