Motivation Techniques To Get Started When You Can’t Be Assed To Start |
You have an idea. You want to do it. You know you should do it. But you just…can’t…get started.
You want to achieve the results and get the benefits from doing the work and you know the consequences of what will happen if you do not do the work. But you still cannot be assed to get started.
I think we have all been in the situation where we really want to get something done but every neuron in our bodies is resisting even the slightest effort to get started and take action.
Personally I have that feeling on a regular basis. There are blog posts to write, affiliate sites to be worked on and links to be built for getting better rankings. I want the results for the work, but I just can’t be bothered to start.
Have you experienced this?
Do you find yourself doing all sorts of random activities just to pass time so that you do not have to start working on your idea?
You do things like trying out yoga for the first time or trying to levitate objects with the power of your mind to avoid getting started. You become overly eager to run annoying little errands for whoever is around at the time so that you just don’t have to get started on your own project.
Here are some great motivation techniques! Print them out and hang them on your mirror or on the inside of your front door so that you will see them every day.

The 3 simple words in Nike’s slogan that made the brand so famous and well-known. Just Do It!
When there is something that you know you want to do but you can’t seem to get started, Nike’s slogan is all you need.
Your idea is not going to materialize by itself, you are not going to build muscle without exercising and you are not going to be successful without doing any work.
Unfortunately there is not easy way to do something.
There are no magic fairies and the chances of finding a magic genie by rubbing old oil lamps are pretty slim.

Just Do It!
Get started. The sooner you start, the sooner you finish.
If you have to, grab your Ipod and put your favorite song on repeat, but just dive head first into your work or project and do it. That is the best motivation there is to get started on something you know you want to do but can’t bring up the energy to get started with.
Are you still not motivated to get started?
Well, you’re still reading this article so I presume you need a few more words of wisdom. I was prepared for that, and as you know, a picture can say more than 1000 words.
Serious Cat is the answer. Print him out and stick him on your mirror. Whenever you procrastinate, Serious Cat will get your lazy butt to work.

I hope that you enjoyed this slightly humorous post.
All jokes aside, the best way to get motivated to do something you don’t really want to do is to just do it. There is no better or other way to explain it.
Don’t think about how much work it is going to be or how long it is going to take you, just get started.
JUST DO IT!

Hey Smara! How are you doing?
Just doing it is tough, but once you break through that wall of frustration it all becomes easier… and if your other option is serious cat that helps
Haha, serious cat is awesome!
I like the way you use pictures to convey your message. Cool!
Thank you:)
hey Diggy!
I think the best advice for most people is to, “Just do it.”
I think the hardest part for most(especially me) is revving up the engine.
But once it’s on, IT IS ON!
All the best,
–Parker
Hey Parker!
I agree that it can be hard to get started but the best way is just to get started. Stop planning how you are going to start and just start. Dive in head first.
Whoa, “When work feels overwhelming, remember you’re going to die.” That hits me right where I live. No punches held back there. And yet funny, just the same. Thanks for the motivation.
Hey Joe!
Haha, yeah a bit of a different post here. Glad you liked it!
Hi Diggy,
A fun post and I love the cat. I think the problem with “Just Do It” is that it has nothing to do with motivation. It’s behind what it takes to “Just Do It” that people are seeking. Unfortunately there are no easy answers or short cuts because we all need commitment, a work ethic and personal ambition (drive) to get things done.
Now, if that cat is looking over your shoulder it may be a different story.
Marc
Hey Marc!
Thanks for stopping by:)
I know that it is an easy trap to look for motivation or inspiration to get started, but the best motivation is to just get started. No excuses, no more time-wasting, just get to work and do it. More often than not you will be surprised at how much easier it is than you thought.
Hey Diggy!
I love going on trips – but hate the unpacking my suitcase afterwards. It usually sits in my spare room for a week before I can even think of reorganizing. Sad, I know!
After reading this article, I dove right into unpacking and have it done.
Keep up the good work!
