How To Create Your Own Blog |
Over the last few weeks I have had a few people ask me how to get started with their own blog.
Since I started the blogging journey a year ago, I have really come to like it. I recommend it to anyone, whether it just be to record your thoughts and experiences in your own time, or whether it be to turn it into a popular,valuable resource with thousands of readers.
I am far from an expert on blogging, but I have learnt many little tips and tricks that I can share with you.I learnt a lot about the technical aspects of WordPress like editing themes and installing essential plugins. This has taken me many hours of reading and trial and error to learn, and I would love to help others skip many hours by telling them what I have learnt.
I decided to create a step by step tutorial how to create your own blog from scratch, and made it so easy that even a total computer illiterate person can do it.
The tutorial covers:
- Choosing and buying a domain name
- Buying your web hosting
- Installing WordPress
- Choosing a theme
- Installing 12 essential plugins that i think every blog should have
- And finally some tips and tricks for editing and customizing the WordPress theme.
It will help anyone get to the point of having their own blog on their own domain, with a nice looking theme, plugins ready to help, and the blog ready to start making a name for itself.

As soon as you buy your own domain, the domain BECOMES your wordpress blog.
I bought http://www.upgradereality.com which (when you type it in your browser) will take you straight to my blog.
It is also possible to make a sub-domain on your website where you have a blog for instance : http://www.upgradereality.com/blog

Hey Diggy – Thnx for the response. She bought http://www.stepintocolor.com, and she’s got this URL up from wordpress where she edits her site: http://stepintocolor.wordpress.com/
She just wants to know how to link the two sites up so that when someone types in: http://www.stepintocolor.com, it shows what is being produced on stepintocolor.wordpress.com.
