Kindness is something you can share at any time, with anyone.

It’s not always easy to kill ‘em with kindness, but it’s always worth it. Why? Because there are some pretty awesome benefits from being kind.

Whenever I find myself acting out in kindness, I find that the following things happen: I feel great, I make someone else feel great, I gain good karma, I physically feel better, and I inspire others to be kind.

Who wouldn’t want those benefits? Here, take a look in more detail at the benefits of being kind:

1.	You feel awesome.

When you treat others with kindness, you feel pretty great. Just think about the last time you did something nice for someone else. How did you feel? You probably felt pretty great, didn’t you?

I know that every time I do something kind – even if it’s the smallest thing – I feel great. Being kind to others is really a way to be kind to yourself.

2.	You make others feel great.

Of course, the most obvious benefit of kindness is that you make others feel good. It seems obvious, but it’s actually really important.

Being kind is a way you can spread goodness in the world, a small way to make the world a better place. Just think for a moment about what the world would be like if everyone were kind…

3.	You gain good karma.

Whether or not you believe in karma, you must realize that when you do good things, good things happen to you. I know from personal experience that this is true.

When I treat others with kindness, I find that kindness is returned to me in some form. Putting kindness into the world helps to bring a whole lot of it back to you.

4.	You improve your health.

It’s been said that doing kind things for others helps you to feel better physically. I’m no doctor or expert so I can’t say for sure if this is true, but it sure makes a lot of sense to me.

The kinder I am to others, the happier I feel. The happier I feel, the more relaxed and centered I am. Give it some thought the next time you’re kind to someone else. Do you physically feel better?

5.	You inspire others.

Acts of kindness are one of the greatest ways to inspire others. When I see someone do something out of kindness, I feel incredibly inspired and it makes me want to do something kind.

When you commit a kind act, those around you will take note and your kindness can have a ripple effect. Start that ripple now by treating those around you with kindness today.

Kindness is something we can all engage in. Kindness is a choice. You can choose it in every single situation. While I know this isn’t always easy, it’s always possible.

You may not fully realize it, but every single moment of your life, you have the choice to choose to act in kindness.

Choose kindness today and reap the benefits!

Buddha was a wise dude. I am by no means a Buddhist, but I do enjoy many of the teachings and philosophies of Buddhism.

There’s no need to stick to one teaching, one person, and one book. We can pick what feels right to us. The following life lessons are quotes from Buddha.

I’ve written about what they represent to me, so remember to stop and think about what you’re feeling as you read them.
Be aware of any tension, feelings, and thoughts that arise and just let them be.

1. “A jug fills drop by drop.”

To me this signifies patience. In life, things build up slowly. This is especially apparent for me as I’m taking my online business to the next level.

So often we want to rush and get to our goals, but when we take a deep breath, relax, and think about it; the journey is actually what really matters.

2. “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.”

Let’s face it, we worry too much, and it isn’t getting us anywhere. The majority of the time you spend dwelling on the past or worrying about the future is time wasted.

When you feel your mind drifting away from the present moment, bring it back, and be completely in the now. Feel your body, observe your surroundings, listen to the silence between sounds, and enjoy.

3. “Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule.”

You cannot fight for peace. Wars cannot be stopped by having more wars. Patience, forgiveness, and love are what we have to use if we want to make this planet a better place.

It is easier said than done, of course, but it is what needs to be done. As we grow and become more compassionate, these characteristics will naturally become a stronger part of us.

4. “Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”

How often have you held onto anger and replayed it over and over in your mind? If you’re anything like me, you’ve done it at least a few times.

It feels like it’s helping, but it really isn’t. When someone has done something to you, or something has happened, it may feel good to be angry, but anger never solves anything. It will only keep you stuck and miserable.

5. “In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.”

Whenever your beliefs are challenged, you will feel resistance. That’s when you have to be aware of what’s going on and stay open-minded.

Life is not about who’s right and who’s wrong, it’s about personal growth. Stay open to new ideas and implement them if they are useful to you.

6. “In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west; people create distinctions out of their own minds and then believe them to be true.”

Borders, countries, and race do not exist anywhere but in our minds. We ourselves make these decisions. Isn’t it time that we start rethinking and start looking at ourselves as one human race?

Think about the distinctions you make every day and how they affect your life. Are all of them what you want them to be?

7. “No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.”

You alone are responsible for your life. If your life isn’t where you want it to be, it certainly doesn’t feel like that, but remember, you have the power to change, if you choose to do so.

Making excuses, blaming, and wallowing will get you nowhere. You alone must take responsibility and walk your path.

8. “Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.”

Happiness, peace, and joy all come from within. Sure, external circumstances may make you happy in the short-term, but they cannot bring you long-term joy.

There are ways to be happier working a job you hate, and there are ways to be miserable being your own boss. When you have enough, more money and more stuff will have a diminishing effect on your happiness.

9. “The mind is everything. What you think you become.”

What do you focus on? Where are your thoughts right now? Where your focus goes, energy flows, so be very aware of what is going on in your inner space.

The mind needs stimulation. It wants to fix things, so much so that it can create problems in order to have something to solve.

10. “He is able who thinks he is able.”

Something I talk about a lot is finding your passion and making a living doing what you love. Some people are more than willing to give me a list of reasons for why they could never do what I do, while others jump right in and start making it work for them.

If you think you can, you can, but if you think you can’t, you can’t. There will always be obstacles in your way, and if you are constantly thinking negatively, you will run out of steam.

11. “You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”

Last, but not least: go easy on yourself. I’ve been working for myself and challenging the status quo ever since I got out of school at the ripe age of 18. I can be extremely harsh to myself, but during the last few years, I’ve learned that being okay with not being perfect is essential to my inner health.

You will make mistakes. You won’t know everything, so keep an open-mind, relax, and enjoy this journey we call life.
Follow your heart, your gut, and your intuition. They are there to keep you moving in the right direction.

You won’t always know what’s going on, but as long as you follow your excitement, and your passion, you will be on the right path.

Free Yourself From Your Mind

You are not your mind.

As strange or unusual as this may sound, it is true. Your mind has an inner voice that seems to speak freely. You are a separate part of your mind that can reason and converse with that inner voice. My theory is that the inner voice belongs to the subconscious mind and you are the conscious mind.

That inner voice is automatic and with a bit of practice you can observe and watch that inner voice, and ultimately come to the point where you are no longer controlled by it. You will be able to listen to it and use its constructive remarks and discard its destructive remarks.

By becoming aware of this inner voice and by being able to listen to your thoughts, you reach an entirely new level of consciousness where you can experience being present and living life in the moment, every moment.

Why Live In The NOW?

The present moment or NOW is the only moment where you ever truly live life.

All decisions are made in the present moment.

All emotions are felt in the present moment.

All actions are taken in the present moment.

All the time you spend reminiscing about the past or worrying about the future is time of your life that you could be enjoying right now.

Has any amount of wishing the past were different ever changed the past?

Has any amount of worrying about the future ever benefited you?

The best way to get the most enjoyment out of life is to spend as much time as possible in the present moment. It’s okay to think about the past every now and then and it is okay to dream about the future, as long as you realize that the only time you will ever have is right NOW. So enjoy as much of NOW as possible, every single day.

Not only do you get the most enjoyment out of life by living in the present moment, you also remove restrictions and self-limiting beliefs. When you are in the present moment you have access to your full potential.

When someone is chased or is in a situation where they absolutely have to do something they are fully in the present moment. The past does not matter and the future is not an issue. In situations like this people run faster, are stronger and think more clearly. There is no past to limit them to historic results and limitations and there is no future that paralyzes them with fear when thinking of possible outcomes.

When you live in the present moment you are free and anything is possible.

4 Ways To Live In The NOW

Be Present With Every Action

One great way to live every moment in the NOW is by being consciously aware of every action you take. For example, when you wash the dishes, instead of zoning out while doing it, be aware of every action and movement you make. Instead of getting in the car every morning and switching into autopilot until you get to work, be consciously aware of every action and motion required to operate and drive your car.

Accept That The Past Will Never Change
Many people spend a lot of their time reminiscing about the past. Whether it be because they had really good times that are no longer around or whether it be because they made some bad decisions that they wish they could change. The fact is that no matter how much you think about the past or wish it was different, it will never change.

One you have accepted this fact, you no longer have the need to spend time wishing the past was different and can instead use that time to live fully in the present moment.

Accept That The Future Is Unpredictable
The future is coming towards you, second by second, hour by hour, day by day. Sometimes it works out exactly as we want it to, but more often than not the future is always different to how we imagine it.

All the time we spend worrying about any sort of event in the future that may or may not come (like getting fired, breaking up with your lover, how your health will be etc) is time wasted. No matter how much time you spend worrying or thinking about the future, you are not going to be able to predict it (although sometimes by pure luck it will happen as you want it to).

By accepting the fact that the future is unpredictable, you can enjoy your time and focus your energy in the present, prepare yourself as best you can for the future and wait for what tomorrow brings instead of spending your time worrying about what will happen.

Count Your Breaths
One of the quickest and easiest ways to be in the present moment is to take a minute or two and literally count every inhale and exhale you make.

When you are counting your breaths you will most likely become aware of all your other senses. What you see, what you hear, how the air feels on your skin and and tastes or smells there may be.

‘Tomorrow’ Is An Illusion

So many people are waiting for ‘some day’ or ‘one day’ in order to start living the life they really want. The truth is that tomorrow is not real, it is an illusion. The only time we ever have is the present moment, every moment of every day until we die.

As my parting words about living in the present moment I want to leave you with the following story :

“A Japanese warrior was captured by his enemies and thrown into prison. That night he was unable to sleep because he feared that the next day he would be interrogated, tortured, and executed. Then the words of his Zen master came to him,
“Tomorrow is not real. It is an illusion. The only reality is now.”
Heeding these words, the warrior became peaceful and fell asleep. “

I was sent this via email today, and I found it an amazing reminder to cherish the ones we love and enjoy the life we have. I don’t know who wrote this story, but thank you.

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker ‘s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ”I know why.”

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.

He said,”People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The Six-year-old continued,

”Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you’re not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!

When was the last time you have really gone out your way to do something for someone else?

I’m saying this because it is so easy to get caught up in our day to day lives, with our mundane tasks or personal goals or problems, that we focus exclusively on that. We forget about other people’s needs or feelings, and genuinely do not want to help other people with something simple because it is too much effort.

Maybe not everyone has this, but I notice that with myself, I feel I have been kind of selfish lately and I don’t like it. I enjoy helping other people, and doing something for someone else without them asking or without expecting anything in return. For me it’s easy to lose track of that when I get too caught up in my day to day things, and only when I take time to sit down and reflect on what I like about my situation and what I do not like, that I realise certain things I’m not so happy with that I want to change.

Personally I think that life is about being the best person you can be, and becoming that best person takes constant work, adjusting and awareness of who you are and what you are doing.

One of the laws of the universe is that the more you give, the more you get back in return.
That doesn’t mean you should give because you are greedy and want more in return.

It is fun do give. Giving can be anything, it can be work, time, energy, friendship, love or material things.Even something as simple as a smile can be an amzing gift. Have you ever had a complete stranger give you the warmest and most sincere smile you have ever seen, and it just lights you up and fills you with joy? You do not need to have money to be able to give and to make a difference in people’s lives.

One of my best friends, Glen, is a good example of this.
He is very good at blogging and internet marketing, and he constantly creates multiple page ebooks full of information and wisdom and gives them away for free because he genuinely likes helping people. Of course, in return he gains awareness, but people really appreciate it.

He has a great blog on personal development PluginID.com and has written over 100 posts. Some of the comments he has recieved on his posts are from people who were in a life crisis and his post has helped them through it. That is powerful stuff!

So when last have you gone out your way to help someone?
Think about it for a minute.

Me, I’m going to include this in my daily plan, I want to help people when I can, and it really is a small effort to do that. Something simple like a smile, or an sms, helping someone with a project. That’s all you need to do.

My personal goal for a long time has been to make enough money for myself that I have a house, car, everything paid for and some money on the bank, and once I have that and can be comfortable not to have to go to work in the morning to pay my bills for the end of the month, that I can concentrate on helping people. Creating something or participating in something really big that can make a difference to many peoples lives, whether it be food for starving people in africa, or a school or education for people who don’t have access to that, or maybe even something for the environment. I really don’t like all the waste and pollution that is going on in the world today. Many people don’t respect what we have, and we all have our part in preserving what we are given ie. our planet and our bodies.

Just in case you were stuck in the same situation as me where I was being kinda selfish and focusing on me and not on others, I hope this post has given you some inspiration to help someone in a way you know you can. It really is a great thing to do:)
